Milky Way

The Milky Way is the galaxy that contains our Solar System. Its name "milky" is derived from its appearance as a dim glowing band arching across the night sky whose individual stars cannot be distinguished by the naked eye. There is an exemption: the Atacama desert is one of the highest and dryest desert in the world. At this place, we can have a splandid view of the sky. This is why the ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) center has been built. This is a kind of super telescope composed by a lot of devices.
